My new (new to me) D-28 is more than I expected from a used guitar. It was in like new condition. I could not be happier. It even smelled new. Something magic happens when you hold and play a guitar that you have dreamed of owning your entire life. My only regret is I wish I could have gotten it a little sooner. At age 77 I don't have a lot of time to enjoy it but I will enjoy it as long as possible. Thank You Custom Guitars Friend for the great deal on this Guitar.

.I've owned my Martin 28 since 1981. Still hasn't Belled. Neck straight. Action perfect. Plays like a professional guitar is suppose to play. If you are going to play. Enjoy playing. Don't buy no junk or cheap guitar. That's my 2 cent.

.I've owned and played many d-28s for over my 30+ years experience and recently invested in a new HD-28 and although I also love it, I recently tied out a new Martin D-18, and WOW! Bought it on the spot! For what ever reason I always thought that I was a rosewood guy, but to my ear the D-18 is just more ballanced and sounded more like the sound in my head that I've been chasing all of these years but overlooked because of the plain looks of the D-18. Love them all but if I could only keep one, it would have to be the plain looking D-18. Try the D-18 out and record with it and you'll never look back. I wanted to think that the rosewood was always my favorite, but I guess looks aside, the D-18 wins out in ballanced sound, to my ear anyway.

.What can I say that has not already been said about this iconic guitar? I bought my first D-28 brand-new in 1972 after saving money by basically starving myself for a month. I wish that I still owned that one! Since then, I have been through a lot of guitars, many of them more expensive, but none of them better. I now own a used D-28, complete with dings and scratches put there by its previous owner. It is my favorite guitar. It goes with me to bars and music jams, and it is the one that I usually pick up when I'm playing at home. It feels as comfortable as an old pair of jeans, and always sounds great. Every now and then I think that a new guitar would be an improvement in that elusive sound that I have been pursuing my entire life. So I go to a music store and try one, always leaving it at the store and returning home to my old plain-Jane D-28. Did I say that I love it?

.I have played D-28s in the past, including vintage samples with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. I know it is heretical, but I've often wondered what the fuss was about. I've owned Brazilian rosewood boutique guitars from other luthiers, and the vintage Martins just never really turned me on.I recently decided to add a bread and butter level D-28 to my collection, more for completeness, and out of respect for the model than for any other reason. I have to say that it has given me far greater pleasure to play this guitar than I would have thought possible. Certainly it is true that each guitar has its own unique way of connecting with the player. My D-28 really strikes a chord with me.I don't want to part with any of my guitars, but this D-28 would be on the short list of keepers if plans had to change. Its very well made, it has adequate, but not ornate, trim. Action is very nice. The tone is rich and full, yet beautifully balanced. Each note is as clear as a bell, even in chords. Thanks Martin!

.First off my guitar is the D-28P, no longer a standard offer, but other than the neck it is the same guitar. I bought it over a year ago. When I first got it I wasn't all that impressed but over the year it has became my favorite out of the 9 guitars I own. The P neck I have really learned to like for flatpicking individual notes, decreases my chance of fingering multiple strings and prevents muffled sounds, yet doesn't hamper strumming chords. The sound has improved dramatically over the past year as it has opened up. The top has beautiful grain and is perfectly book matched, the sides are nicely matched also.

Now for the complaints (minor cosmetic complaints). The back is not book matched, the wood is pretty but not book matched like the rosewood side. At the 15th and 16th fret there are glue splatters, which I didn't notice till after having the guitar for a month. These complaints are minor but still disappointing for $2400 guitar, and I would consider the D-28 Martins flagship axe, so I would expect better quality control. Still I love the guitar but can't give it a 5.

.In the eighties I had a Martin HD-28 and sold it to buy a Gibson J-200. I sold that to buy a Gibson Hummingbird. I sold that to buy a Guild D-40 Bluegrass Jamboree. I sold that and looked around for months. I went back to a Martin D-28 and finally found what I was looking for. It's voice is glorius and pleases me like nothing else. Buy one if you can!

.I have had my old D28 over 40 years. Guess what I would take for it. Warren Buffett might could buy it.It is a wonderful old instrument with a great sound. I play Bluegrass and it is the perfect guitar for what it has done all these years.Great action, wonderful tone, booming bass. This is probably the best guitar the Martin factory ever produced.

.I have been completely satisfied with the Martin D-28. It is a true joy to play. I upgraded from a D-16GT. I liked the D-16GT a lot but the quality and clarity of the sound in The D-28 has won me over. I know the D-28 is only gonna continue to sound better. Thanks Custom Guitars Friend for a great deal on a sweet acoustic!
All solid wood. Ebony fretboard and bridge. Bone nut and saddle. This guitar had all the features I was looking for. Grover butterbean tuners are nice. To me this guitar looks beautiful. Some acoustics with the inlays and stuff just become to decorated for me. This guitar fits me just right!
Craftsmanship seems superb. The D-28 feels solid and has a nice weight to it. Not heavy but not gonna blow out of your hand with the wind either. Sounds and plays beautifully. The quality and clarity of each note is amazing. I can hear the notes in chords so well now.
These guitars are definitely pricey but worth it in my opinion. Compared to everything else nowadays. I was lucky to get a gently used return from musicians friend. Also used a 15% coupon and saved a bunch. So considering the savings i had to give it a ten.
Martin Standard Series D-28 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Sunburst
.I knew a d-28 would be pricey, I knew it would be beautiful, I had know idea it would so thoroughly set itself so far above any acoustic I have played. The fullness of the sound is absolutely incredible, the richness and tone that this instrument creates is indescribable. Effortless harmonics and clarity, and natural volume that defies belief. Not to mention when your not playing you can't help but stare at it, it is in and of itself a piece of art. If you play a guitar, don't make a buy until you've put one of these in your hands, It lives up to the reputation.
