The appearance, with abalone inlay around the sound hole, is more luxurious and an obvious step-up. The small and thin body is perfect not only for female/young players but for intermediate to upper level finger-picking style players.
This FS has louder and stronger sound in the low- to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the R&D Division. ’s engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition or guesswork. This analysis led to the development of the new scalloped bracing pattern, an ideal acoustic structure that maintains the durability of the top board while bringing out the most sound the FS has to offer.

I purchased this guitar as an "open box" blemished instrument. I'd heard from some well places sources that these guitars were amazing for the price and they were dead on. Now I'm going to have to get one of the dreadnoughts.

.I bought the smaller FS version because I wanted to make sure I played this thing all the time and, though I'm tall, I find dreadnoughts uncomfortable (I had access to an FG730 in the past). The size is great, the sound is great, and this is a beautiful looking instrument. I had planned on the natural finish, but it was backordered and the salesperson told me dusk sun red was beautiful. The picture does not do it justice. It doesn't only sound good, but it calls me to pick it up. This is a fabulous starter guitar.
