Product Description

This is a truly exceptional Collings D2HA in excellent condition (little bit of buckle marking on the back as you'd expect, but otherwise super clean as you can see in the video) with its original hardshell case. The top is very wide grain adirondack spruce, which is not to everyone's liking visually, but is often the best sounding adirondack in my opinion (and I actually really like the look of the wide grain). Back and sides are gorgeous Indian Rosewood.

This particular D2HA has the stock 1 11/16" nut width and the only modifications are the addition of a strap button and a K&K Pure Mini pickup. I recently had a full setup done on the guitar and it plays like a dream with a nice straight neck, easy action, and no buzzing or rattling. The guitar has lots of power and volume as you would expect from an adi/rosewood dreadnought, but it's also surprisingly responsive to a light touch or even to fingerpicking.

I'm only selling this guitar because I've realized that my heart is set on a vintage J-45 style guitar and, sadly, I have limits on how much money I can spend on guitars. I spent several years playing OM and 000 size guitars and, when it came time to buy a larger guitar, I really thought I wanted the classic D28 style guitar. I played at least a dozen different high end dreadnoughts before finally finding this one. I had even purchased a brand new D2HA before I found this one and sold it at a loss to buy this one used because it sounded so sweet. I don't know if it was just that the adi top had some time to break in or if it was just a good one, but it spoke to me.

Anyway, I'll try to get some quality recordings to post and am happy to take additional photos or video if there's anything else you'd like to see. The guitar is really in great shape and is definitely a lifetime guitar for the right person.

From the Collings website:

The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, we bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The wide range of woods and neck sizes offered allow dreadnought fans to find a Collings model ideally suited to their playing style and tonal preference.
