This version of the L-4 maintained the original 16 inch L-5 design of the 1920's when Gibson changed the L-5 and other models to 17 inches. Like the earlier L-5, this L-4 features carved spruce top, beautiful carved flame maple back, maple sides, and ebony bridge. Changes from the L-5 included nickel finish hardware, different inlays (fancier than the L-5), and usually a rosewood instead of ebony fretboard (although this one is ebony like the L-5).
This guitar was restored by a luthier Jim Millinchuk, the work included refret, refinish, new binding, new pickguard, it looks and sounds wonderful.
Guitar includes Hiscox Artist case, their top of the line model offering the most protection of their cases, and in ivory color. Case sells online for $579. If you don't want this level of protection in a case, can send in a Stagg foam case and will accept lower offer.
