Made in Gibson Custom Shop, Nashville for Japan dealer, this rare all Jimmy Page spec R8 has a wavy 3D fiddleback carved top and plays like a dream. The top was hand picked by Edwin Wilson (comes with pictured "hand selected" certificate) of Gibson Custom who picked the top closest to the real Jimmy Page #1 guitar. The slim tapered neck is smooth and fast and the push pull tone pots (cool-splitting) give the guitar even more tonal options than the traditional Les Paul sounds. If you consider Jimmy was originally a telecaster aficionado , you can better understand why he had this done to his Les Pauls because you truly can get a tele sound out of this les paul among many other options using your tonal imagination. Due to contractual obligations Gibson can't call these few models "Jimmy Page" signature. That's why they are much less expensive. But this thing is as real as those and better if you ask me. From the Grover tuners to the metal jack plate, to the slim-tapered fast, satin-smooth neck and the push/pull pots on to the period accurate carved top you will be playing as close to the real thing that Jimmy played with LZ and beyond. Pictured is the one slight ding on the plastic pickup cover on the uncovered bridge pickup- from my pick while playing it at home. This thing is addictive and even sounds loud and great unplugged.
