Up for sale is a left handed, Gibson Special Faded SG, built in 2007. I have listed this guitar as "custom build" as everything, including the body and neck have been upgraded. I started by removing all the hardware and electronics from the guitar. I then hand buffed the matte finish to a very warm and "aged" semi-gloss. The following new parts were added:
Kluson, Vintage correct, "aged" cream button tuners.Bone nut.TonePros, "aged" ABR bridge.Kluson Vintage correct, "aged" light weight, aluminum tailpiece.Seymour Duncan '59 neck and bridge pickup setElectronics - 2 CTS 500K volume pots, 2 CTS 250K tone pots, 1 Orange drop .022 cap and NOS Cornell Dubillier .022 cap. The reason for the two different caps is that each provides a distinct sound for the neck and bridge pickups. Switchcraft 3 way and 1/4" jack. Vintage correct wiring. The guitar has low action and is set up with GHS Boomer 10's. The guitar was then professionally set up with fret dressing, neck adjustment and intonation. The neck profile, IMHO sits perfectly between the fat '50's and slim tapper '60"s necks. It has a beautiful Rosewood fingerboard, not "baked maple". There are no dead spots or fret buzz. Frets have 99% life left to them. As all SG's are, this guitar is very light and extremely well balanced.
This SG sounds and plays like a dream, with the SD '59's and a fast neck this is an incredible guitar for almost any musical style.
I am asking well over market value for this guitar, but if you add up the cost for all the upgrades and craft work put into this guitar, you'll find it's quite a bargain. This is not an "off the shelf" guitar, it has gone through major upgrades. You can buy one for less, but then you'll be getting less...
I have been building and selling lefty only guitars here and on the "bay" for over 17 years, check out my feedback, you won't be disappointed. The guitar includes a TKL HSC. It will be professionally packaged. Shipping to CONUSA only. Please ask all questions before buying.
