OK, this is a different listing. This particular model is no longer made. I can't recall if it was actually called the Vintage Vibe or Classic Vibe. At any rate, alder body, surprisingly good guitar for very little money. So why am I asking more than the new price (I think it was $449.00)?
The Squiers had cheap electronics and wiring, so so pickups and a lightweight bridge and trem block. Also many had pretty rough fret work. This one did. The fret ends could draw blood. So, here's what's been done to this: The pickguard was replaced with a loaded pickguard sourced from RS Guitarworks. Pickups were already installed and are Fralin Vintage Hots, although the minimal marking that Fralin puts on them, a small tag on the leads, wasn't there. I have other Vintage Hots and they look and sound right. About $350 new. The bridge was replaced with a Callaham bridge and much heavier trem block which he no longer makes. This made a big difference on tone and sustain. I had the frets cleaned up and they are nicely tapered at the ends now. The original comes in a foam bag in a cardboard box. It will ship in a brand new $80 hard case. About $600 in improvements. I wasn't sure I was a Strat guy but I ended up buying a higher end boutique Strat style.
