I've been using this guitar regularly for a year now and I'm still amazed at the quality of the tone, great playability and classic appearance, every time I take it out of the case. I was looking for a good playing and relatively inexpensive acoustic electric to use at an outdoor gig I've done for several summers when I order the Epi Dove Pro last spring. I had looked at several much more expensive guitars that used the same Fishman pick up system and really like their amplified sound. I did not want a pick up that needed a large hole in the side of the guitar to mount the preamp because of the difficult in finding a replacement when they fail. The Fishman with the controls inside the sound hole is ideal for my needs as well as sounding very natural.

When the guitar arrive my biggest surprise was how fantastic the Epi Dove Pro sounds unplugged. It is loud and very well balance. I was concerned that the maple back and sides might be overly bright, but this is not the case. The tone is robust and works well for either strumming or lead work. I generally prefer guitars with Koa back and side, but IMHO Koa guitars are too expensive to be exposed to the extremes in temp and humidity of a weekly summer gig in the Midwest. Sure the Dove is a litter brighter than say an instrument with solid rosewood back and sides, but nowhere near as bright as a some of the maple Guild or Taylor dreadnoughts I've been around. Full and neutral is the best way to describe the unplugged voice.

So now I'm entering year two of using this guitar and I'm still in love with it. I routinely get positive comments about its looks and sound. It stays in tune extremely well and is very easy to play I did not have to do any setup after it arrived. Put on new string and start using it. I also like the fact it had a strap button installed on the neck heal, something I wish more acoustic guitar makers would do.

Are there any negatives to this love story? There are a couple of items, but neither is anywhere near a deal breaker. I've never been crazy about the oversize, historically accurate EE-Epiphone-e headstock. I'd much prefer it if the Dove used the same more compact headstock design / size found on the EE-Epiphone-e Les Paul guitars. I also noticed over the very cold winter that the Dove needed more humidification than any of my other acoustics. Maybe because it is the newest and / or because it was played out in the summer heat a lot. It's something I'll keep an eye on next winter.

Bottom line, I whole heartedly recommend this guitar and would immediately buy another one if it was destroyed or stolen.

.First off, I am an advanced player who was just looking for a quality instrument to keep handy at my studio. I have a 15 year old Taylor 315 ce that I use for playing and recording, but I didn't want to keep an instrument like that at my studio (because I can't secure it properly with the amount of foot traffic) but wanted it handy when I needed to write or impromptu record. I had played a lot of inexpensive guitars and always found something I didn't care for, even more expensive instruments at pawn shops and "used" at music shops. I came across this guitar on MF and thought I would give it a spin. At such a low price point, I was expecting to do some fret dressing, some intonation, and to live with some blemishes. I really expected some issues. What a JOY it was when I opened the box and could not find a blemish, tuned it up and played the whole fretboard very comfortably and did not need to even adjust it. I plugged it in, played for a couple hours at different tone and volume levels and had NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER. I could not be happier, and would have paid a lot more for an instrument of this quality, but the eye candy makes it even sweeter. I had played one of these before, and it had the newer, side mounted Fishman system (this one is mounted inside top of the sound hole). I liked that better, and it had a tuner, but for the 150. difference, would not have made me change my mind about this one. All in all, great value and a wonderful instrument.

.I owned and played a 1963 SJ200 for many years. This EE-Epiphone-e Dove Pro is as well built, sounds and plays as well as that Gibson which I bought new in 1963. This is one beautiful guitar. I could not be happier. This arrived well set up and almost completely in tune! The electronics perform so well that I cannot tell any difference when played through my Acoustic AG30 amp! Just louder!

Epiphone Dove Pro Acoustic-Electric Guitar Vintage Burst
.Just on a whim, I tried one of these out yesterday at a major guitar store. It should be noted that I didn't plug it in, so I don't know how it sounded amplified. But no guitar will sound good pluged in if it doesn't play well acoustically. Having said that, I wad quite impressed at how well this guitar played and sounded. The action and set up were very good and I didn't detect any buzzing. The guitar was made in Indonesia, but don't let that fool you. The overall quality was very good for a guitar priced so low and with so many fancy touches. If you're after a reall looker that won't break the bank, be sure to check this one out!

.EE-Epiphone-e guitars are mass produced in Asia, there are lots of defective guitars getting through there inspection. I have had crooked necks, blemished paint and stain. M.F. is great and they will replace a defective guitar if you catch it right away. My suggestion is as soon as you recieve your guitar take it to your local guitar tech and have it inspected and set up. Dont wait or you will be forced to deal with EE-Epiphone-e and that will be months of waiting for a replacement.
Epiphone Dove Pro Acoustic-Electric Guitar Vintage Burst
.I bought this because I have the epiphone hummingbird and I liked it so much I had to have the dove pro, you wont be sorry. iff I had to make a choice, having both I would say the dove pro. the dove is so much better pluged in I love it, I cant put it down. the finish is awesome , the set up is pretty good , love love love the dove. just get one.
Epiphone Dove Pro Acoustic-Electric Guitar Vintage Burst
.While getting my primary guitar repaired, I needed a fill in option for a few gigs. This guitar has a great tone and presence. It arrived in spectacular shape with a nice lower action. Depth on the low end and crisp high end. Nice retro look. All I could possibly ask for. Great job EE-Epiphone-e and great price Custom Guitar's Friend.
