Here we have a 1959 Supro 1623CT Holiday with pair of NOS 6973 Power Tubes.
Two original Rola 4 ohm 6x11 alnico speakers in good working condition. All original chassis wiring with
no repairs or modifications with the exception of a professionally installed
Grounded AC power cord. The 1623 has the same 6973 output stage as the
legendary 1624T and makes 12 watts at clipping into a 2 ohm load. It does
almost 12 watts into 4 ohms and better than 10 watts at 8 ohms so alternate
speaker hookups is definitely an option. The single channel has three inputs.
Two are Normal and one is labeled Treble. There is a Volume and Tone control
and Tremolo Speed control with tremolo on / off switch. The 1623 does not have
an intensity control. When the tremolo is switched in it is full on and pumps
hard. The Rola speakers are not real efficient so the amp saturates at a modest
volume level with lots of compression and spank when pushed. It cleans up real
nice at lower volumes and has a chimey sparkle with good low to high balance. The cabinet is in
good condition with a few nicks and stains that you can see in the pictures.
The Grill was sprayed black a long time ago so the Supro logo is no longer
white. The flocking on the screen is also showing some wear. The brass control
panel has a fair amount of corrosion which is not uncommon on these Supros.
Over all, the amp looks pretty good for pushing 58 years of age. I own and
operate a Pro Audio Repair shop in Eugene, Oregon and I am an authorized
service center for most major brands such as Fender, Marshall, Vox, Mesa Boogie
and ect. I have been repairing amps for over forty years and do a lot of
vintage amp work. This little Supro has been cleaned and serviced and is ready
to Go!
