I've played the AVC 5 for a few months, and tried out some more expensive ($5,000) cellos. The AVC 7 is far better than AVC 5 which was solid instrument but not as nice quality or as easy to play. The AVC 7 also compared nicely to the more expensive cellos, with the major difference being the quality of the strings. They are similar to the stock strings on the AVC 5 which is a bad thing. However, the AVC 5 benefited greatly from a set of high quality strings (Jargar or Larsen) , so I assume that similar strings would fix the shrillness on the AVC 7 as well.
Overall, I am very pleased with this cello, as it is an excellent value and very nice to play as well even to just look at. I imagine that this cello will last me several years and may even be good enough to be the last cello I'll ever buy.
