Product Description

The Washburn T25 5-string bass offers a number of features typically found on much higher-priced instruments. The stained mahogany body and multi-laminate neck with rosewood fretboard deliver striking looks. Rich, warm tone comes courtesy of two ABT jazz pickups. Neck-through-body construction means superb resonance, and Grover bass tuners provide exceptional tuning stability. Includes gig bag.

I'm an older player. I used to play quite a bit back in the 70's and 80's. At that time I played a Fender Precision and a Rickenbacker.I stopped for over 15 years and 3 years ago began playing again. Not looking to break the bank, I settled on the Washburn T25.First of all, it looks stunning. And yes, it has heft. For the price I paid it was a no-brainer for a neck-through bass. Took it to a good tech, paid $75.00 to have a few of the frets dressed and the guitar set-up properly. This was two years ago.I've been playing regularly now and I go through a Hartke3500 amp and Behringer paper-cone speakers (2x10 and 1x15). I use a Digitech BP80 processor. I even use Hartke bass strings (very inexpensive). So all in all I have probably have one of the cheapest rigs in all of recorded history. BUT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>This bass is the NUT!The bass has as wide a variety of sounds and textures as one could want. Motown? No problem. Metal? A cinch, Blues/R&B??? don't make me laugh. Reggae, Progressive, Latin? C'mon...throw me something this bass cannot do, willya? The B-string is outstanding. The Midrange has great meat and crunch, the low end is 8-levels deep, and it has a great Entwhistle high end to it. I don't get the complaints of some people. I get compliments all the time on the sound and overall projection and bottom-end of the bass (even by someone who spent 10x the $$$ on a Modulus!?!).Remember one thing: Many times its not the instrument that makes a player sound good. The opposite is more true...the player makes the instrument sound good. Now I am not saying I'm a good player (there are millions out there better than me), but I know what kind of sound I want, and I know how to get it. My bandmates never complain.I would not trade this bass for anything else.

.This bass has one of the most unusual tone. That is the main reason I bought it. Great construction, although I feel I could break the neck in half. One of the things I love most about it, is how close together the strings are. I've played 5's that are just way to spaced apart in order to play comfortably/long period of time. I play in a jam band, so playing for an hour straight on a 5-string can tire your hand out pretty bad. All in all a good bass. Love the woody tone. :)

.This bass is nice. I've been a 4-string player for 20 years. I wrote a riff that needed the D on the B string so I looked for what might be a decent quality, yet inexpensive starter 5-string. This thing rocks. I play mostly hard rock/early metal and this thing has a distinctive growl that I immediately fell in love with. It really provides the voice I've been looking for in a bass. I expected to have to make some major adjustments to my playing until I got use to the thicker neck but it's surprisingly comfortable. After just playing for 10 minutes it felt like holding an old friend. It came set-up with the action set really low, which to me is preferable, so that was nice. It's physically very heavy and I'm sure that contributes to it's wonderful tone. Best deal I ever got for a bass. Visually, this bass would have looked much nicer with gold hardware.

.I really loved the 5 strings, 24 frets, active pickups but there are some serious problems first I bought this bass 3 time each time it was bowed. And the spacing between the strings is ridiculously small. Seriously if you want something go a little higher on the money scale.

.This was my first serious bass, after an Ibanez starter kit. I played it for three years or so, jamming, learning, and eventually gigging. The construction and quality control is solid and what you would expect for an instrument at this price point, though like any instrument a good setup is always a smart idea. It does a good job giving you a jazz bass range of tones.

It has a distinct feel, much of which I really liked. The body is noticeably smaller than your typical jazz bass, and very comfortable to play seated or standing. The mahogany gives it enough heft not to feel like a toy, though. The string spacing is quite narrow; it's very difficult to slap on, but lends itself beautifully to playing with a pick and is fine for fingerstyle. The neck, of course, is also relatively narrow and not the aircraft carrier deck some 5-string basses have. The pickups are passive, like most jazz basses, which for me was also a plus.

I did eventually sell mine, for only one reason; I realized I like the feel of a smaller fretboard radius, and started to feel my Taurus was a little too flat for me. I like a 10" radius and this is more like 14". That was personal preference, and I sometimes second-guess that decision. A lot of people prefer the flatter fretboard.

Bottom line; it's not for everybody, but if you're thinking of something in the ballpark of an MIM Fender Jazz and would like a different option, the Taurus is well worth checking out.

.What I first noticed about this bass was the way it looked, it reminded me of Les Claypool's Ebony Bass. Then I picked it up and I next noticed the action. The strings are so sensitive you barely have to rest your finger on it to gt a clear note. This bass is suitable for playing any style on it...very versatile. I'd recommend this bass to any beginner and veteran alike.

.The head has a nice shape, the tuners are good quality, allthough the Washburn logo and hardware in gold would have been more pleasent to the eyes, the frets are very thin, fair workmanship, the fret board is well done, the inlays are nice, I prefer larger reference dots on the top side of the neck(Im more experienced than some) the neck shape is well done, the body is {SeXy}in shape But the separeation of the wood colors is poor at best, the pick ups have an odd overtone (hum)if the E/Q isnt full on, the pots are smooth, the bridge is poor when i got the bass the G buzzed, I found a dimple in the set screw saddle, i moved the string saddle back and the buzz was gone but I cant seem to get the intonation in now(I bought a BleM), input jack & straplugs are good, the gig bag is really nice, with tools (U may need)& a cord, it is comfortable standing or setting, my friends think that the bass sounds good, Sometimes it is the player!
Washburn Taurus T25 5-String Neck-Thru Electric Bass Guitar Natural Mahogany
.this is a good bass at a very good price, i play on hardcore punk bands since 8 years and by now this bass it's one of the best i have, it gots a great tunning and also sounds pretty hard to my taste, the neck it's very fast, pickups are acceptable.i really haven't use this bass to play jazz or any other type of music without distortion, and maybe thats why it works for me so if you are looking for an affordable 5 string bass to play hard this is the one that you need
Washburn Taurus T25 5-String Neck-Thru Electric Bass Guitar Natural Mahogany
.I like this bass! I don't like the pickups and passive tone control though. The bass has mahogany body wings and maple/mahogany thru-neck. Decent fret work, pretty good bridge, the bass plays well, it's comfortable to wear, the neck has a nice shape, the body is ergonomic. But the pickups and passive tone KILL this bass. The tone unplugged is big and powerful; full. Plugged in is floppy on the low B at best. The E string is better, but then the A-G strings sound really good! Never fear though: it is easy and relatively inexpensive to replace the pickups and tone controls. Order some good 5-string J-style pickups and a minimum 2-band active EQ for this bass (3-band would be better depending on the style of music you play), and install them on a Saturday that you don't have to work. By the time you buy the bass, pickups, and EQ, you will have paid what this bass is really worth. However, some may not want to because it is easier to just buy another bass, after all.
Washburn Taurus T25 5-String Neck-Thru Electric Bass Guitar Natural Mahogany
.The action is smooth, the electronics are great, the tone is fantastic, and the design is sexy. I own this bass, and I must say, it is one of the greatest values for a bass. great for beginners and experts alike. i recommend this bass for anyone looking for a great bass for not much money.
