Product Description

The SE Standard 24 is a fresh take on PRS' hallmark model: the Custom 24. Updated here with an all-mahogany body, the SE Standard 24 is a modern instrument with a powerful voice. This guitar features classic PRS appointments, including a 24-fret mahogany neck (set neck construction), rosewood fretboard with bird inlays, and a PRS-Designed tremolo.

The SE Standard 24 pairs the warm, round tone of an all-mahogany guitar with PRS-Designed HFS and Vintage Bass pickups, resulting in a guitar that handles well and sounds as good plugged straight into an amp as it does run through a pedal board. The SE Standard 24 is the perfect choice players who demand a rock-solid, reliable guitar.

Since 2001, the SE Series has been offering incredible quality and great tone at affordable prices. The introduction of the SE Standard models represents a significant extension of the SE Series into the <$500 price point. The goal of the SE Series has always been to provide a quality instrument to players of all levels one that would not fight the player, but encourage him or her to start and to keep playing. PRS is proud to extend this promise to an even more attainable price point with the SE Standard lineup.

It turns out, qualities I liked about my other guitars over the years were present in the PRS 24. I put a warmoth vintage modern neck on my Tele. (feels a LOT like PRS's wide thin neck). My first was a Strat that played fine, but doesn't come close to the fit & finish, playability and design of the PRS. Don't get me wrong, the Strat was the bees knees when it first came out, but Paul's design is an improvement in every way. I also like the fact that it's not imitating another guitar. A PRS sounds like a PRS. Excellent choice to keep beginners from getting frustrated with their instrument. It also plays better than some $2000 guitars I've played. They're going to sell a LOT of these.

I use to be guitarist myself in a band. My son now is interesting in learning this instrument. We went to the music store, trying to find a guitar. He grabbed a Gibson Les Paul. ( It was one of those cheap ones.) I understand buying a starter guitar doesn't mean buying a 150 dolor(website won't let me spell it correctly) piece of acoustic junk. We decided to go with the gibson, until we were checking out. The cashier said " We got a guitar that's better and cheaper, and nobody touched it before, since we just got it yesterday". I asked him to bring it out, so I can try it out. The Prs SE has much clearer sound, and better craftmanship. Gibson, watch and learn!

.I have been a guitarist for more decades than I care to mention, and this might be the finest guitar I've ever played. The quality, right out of the box, was obvious.
The finish of my translucent blue Standard 24 is beautiful. The intonation spot on. The neck is slim and fast with no buzz. The pickups are sweet and powerful in both humbucker and single coil modes. Switch and pots are great, as are the keys. I can't say enough great things about this beautiful instrument!
I've been a Gibson Les Paul and Fender Strat man all my life, and this beauty does it all. If yours is on back order, be patient, it is so well worth the wait!
Daniel was great at Custom Guitars Friend with my order. Knowledgeable and friendly. I have zero complaints about my experience with them, or this beautiful guitar.
Buy one... at least!!!

.I purchased the tobacco sunburst version and let me tell all of you that PRS guitars are a must for beginners to professionals. They encourage you to play. The feel of this guitar is out of this world. I was
so impressed with the craftsmanship, tone and the way the guitar feel in my hands and against my torso. I will never play another guitar manufacturer again and believe me, I've had quite a few axes.

I also have to give props to Custom Guitar's Friend for the great, and I do mean great service I received when making my final decision. My experience with Bill gave me the absolute confidence of purchasing more equipment to get me well on my way to becoming a great guitarist. My dad told me to become something in life and being a musician is what I choose to be.

Rock on!

.Great guitar. The Cherry is a great color. Coil Split is a great feature on the tone knob. Great Workmanship. Neck has a natural feel. Pretty nice sustain as well.

.Bought this for a student, who was happy with it. I was not impressed. Uneven frets. File marks in the fret board. Strings that obviously have been sitting in a warehouse for MONTHS. This was the second go 'round, too. The first was much worse...Cosmetic flaws that were sickening. Sent it back. (Thanks Andre) Quality control on the Standards is non-existent. Do yourself a great big fat favor if you want a PRS... AT LEAST move up to the Custom SE models. The difference is night and day. Got one of those in a GC store (also owned by MF company) and the thing is outstanding. Of the SE Standard, Chappers and The Captain said... "great value." Bloody mad, the both of them. Just... No... Mow lawns, clean windshields, walk dogs... but spend the additional 250 and go Custom. The very expensive PRS guitars are indeed fine instruments, worth every dime... the cheap ones...not so much. If all you buy is sub-grand guitars, and you have some luthier skills, you could make this work, as it really doesn't sound as terrible as it looks. It is not, however, worth the lower price tag. Trust me... I have owned guitars since the 1970's. Spend the money. Regret is a nagging pain in the but-tox that never goes away.

.Great guitar and I only use a wah and straight in to Marshall. No effects other than the wah. It has a bite when I need it but smoothness also when I need/want it. I did buy a Boss pedal but half of the stuff in it I never use.

do Yourself a favor and get one or like I did get 2.

Wish Ihad bought one of these earlier.Great guitar for the price. Was perfect right out of the box, intonation was perfect, nice frets.Couldn"t be happier. It takes a little bit of getting used to 24 frets but the tone is clear and bright like I like.Stays in tune better than my Les Pauls and plays as good.Looking at maybe getting the 22 fret model.
