The Fender Jazz Bass was introduced in 1960 as a higher-end alternative to the Precision Bass with closer string spacing, a thinner neck profile at the nut, and two punchy single-coil pickups. The Jazz Bass evolved in a number of subtle ways throughout the 60s with major changes coming during the CBS Fender buyout of 1965. In 1962, the knobs on the J Bass changed from two concentric controls to three distinct knobs. Examples with just two knobs should be priced along the same lines as a 1961 Jazz Bass.
This bass arrived to us poorly refinished in black. We worked with Gord Miller in Canada and had it refinished professionally in the vintage/relic white as shown. All other parts remain original. The bass plays and sounds fantastic with a ton of mojo. Please note the wear on the body and the back of the head stock. If you would like to visit the store and see the bass in person, you can visit us in Dover New Hampshire. Thanks for looking, we look forward to your questions and offers.
