firmware update 1.03 or later fixes this
Line 6 Relay G70 Digital Wireless Guitar System
.I had the G50 and experienced dropouts on larger stages, and apparently anywhere there was competing wifi in the vicinity. I replaced it with the G70 hoping the next gen tech would fix that issue. No luck. Even in my home (where there is just a single wifi router more than 25 feet away), and even scanning for open channels, the unit spontaneously dropped signal for as long as a second. This may be OK for the casual player, but I can't use this in my professional gig and risk drop outs.

I'm a fan of Line 6 technology (I own two PODs and have had numerous Flextone amps). But they're just missing the boat on this one IMHO. I'll try the Shure GLX.

The tone, I must say, is amazing.
Line 6 Relay G70 Digital Wireless Guitar System
.I have gigged heavily with the G50 for two years and that little guy is still alive and kicking! When I heard Line 6 was releasing the G70 I had no idea how they were going to make improvements to such a killer unit. Well they did it! The G70 works wonders! The transmitter has a genius design! Good luck trying to pop the batteries out on this guy or changing any settings it's practically bomb proof!

I can't say enough wonderful things about the receiver either. They really listened to musicians and created something that has your back. You're able to program "scenes" within each channel which allows you to add gain with a quick toggle press, it's also equipped with a tuner and has a DI built into it. These features free up so much space on my pedal board! When I set up boards i'm usually very careful about placing the receiver in a spot that will still grant access to the start of the chain allowing the musician to quickly plug in a cable for emergencies. Worry no more! As the receiver now includes an aux jack just in case you run into any trouble during a gig (which probably won't be used but it's nice to have piece of mind)! I'm very satisfied with the quality of this wireless unit and highly recommend it to musicians of every skill level that feel like having wireless freedom while maintaining great tone.

.I am also experiencing the same drop outs described above. During the last gig I used this thing I lost count of how many drop outs occurred and how many times I ran and re-ran the scan - even between songs during the set. This is completely unacceptable when it happens during a gig and worse while playing a lead guitar solo...thanks line 6! The last time I had it plugged in it even started randomly broadcasting spurts of white noise into the signal. I think that was the unit telling me in a digital language that it needs to be returned for a refund.

Does the "line 6 g70" stand for a minimum of "6" drop outs during a "70" minute set?? This product should be renamed from g70 to "FAIL"

Initially I was trying to decide between this and the Shure GLXD16. I was lured by all the bells and whistles the line 6 has. But dropouts while playing a gig makes it a horrible choice. What's interesting is line 6 admitted the product is bugged for dropouts in a post on their forum in a thread about this very issue:

"We found a bug that we are currently fixing. As soon as this is tested we will release a firmware update. I am sorry for the inconvenience- we will publish the update as soon as possible."

To anyone reading this thread and considering buying this wireless unit: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Get a Shure GLXD16 or an Audio Technica System 10 Stompbox instead if you want a digital wireless. Not only will you save money, but also a lot of aggravation. Not to mention having to return a product that doesn't do the primary function – provide a reliable wireless connection.
Line 6 Relay G70 Digital Wireless Guitar System
.I bought one the same just 3 months ago, with the firmware update 1.03, all all, but it still drop out the signal always ...
i'm so pi ss ed off, i wish that i could give back
Line 6 Relay G70 Digital Wireless Guitar System
.Great product.
Line 6 Relay G70 Digital Wireless Guitar System
.I've been using the G70 for about a year with nothing but great results. I don't have dropout, I love that it senses when its not being used and goes to sleep, and it has excellent sound quality. I play at a church with a large auditorium and we have control over our wifi situation so I never get interference or dropouts. The complaints I've heard are from people who travel with their band or have a lot of competing routers and wifi congestion...guess I lucked out!
