I believe to this day that the Pocket Pod, which is the Pod 2.0 Engine has the best saturated Lead rhythm sound all the way thru to the X3 Live. Consider that I have all the Line 6 multi fx units up to and Including the XT Live floorboard. I have played thru the X3 Live and this is where the versatility of the X3 Live can do two amps at a time. Yes the XT is much more versatile and a new animal and the software is very good but the saturated tones in the modern gain did not deliver the modern gain sound of the Pocket Pod which is the same Engine as the Floor Pod Plus 2.0. The Floor Pod 2.0 is the same as the Pocket Pod but it is one of my favorite pedals of all time. It really delivers my favorite 80s classic hi gain crunch and Lead tones. Also the FX built in are showstopper with its instant fx dial in knob. Back to the Pocket Pod. This little one is the replacement to my world famous Rockman of latter years, now known as a collectible relic and featured on countless recordings of the past including Def Leppards Hysteria album and ZZ Top, Kiss, etc etc. The Pocket Pod compares well with the Rockman but goes further with delay chorus and reverb. An awesome stereo mix. Still has yet to be beaten in modern gain recordable tone. Changing of cabs is most excellent. For Recording practicing and even live to amp or direct box to PA. It will knock your socks off. I use other Multi fx for the convenience of different amp types, but my favorite saturated modern tone still lies in the engine of the Pod 2.0 and I am not alone when discussing it with studio session players and studio rats. It has a free editor for computer. Now for mid gain fender clean sounds it is currently not a match for LINE 6 HD Series and above, but I still have not heard a saturated Lead tone as good to date. I always play thru an AB box and try to duplicate the Pocket Pod Rectified gain with all other pedals and amps. I can get close but never quite there. It's a keeper for sure.

.Don't take this on the road. Guarenteed to break if you drop it, so I hate that. But, for home usage it's great. I sat here last night and ran through 2 hours of effects and had to take a break. I only scratched the surface and that was not online. Speaking of which: I can't get the user interface up an running with this Line 6 product, or any other. It's not my computer/computers. All Line 6 software is achaic and I'm not the only one that is disapointed with it. Everything they make is herky jerky. IE: when you have to reset your amp presets each time you go to play; that is just stupid. Yeah, you get used to it, after years of Line 6, it is way past due to fix ALL of the inhernt problems associated with their software. Also: one preset is quite, and next is so loud it feeds back, so there is NO consistancy on sound levels, so you'd have to re-tweek, then save those settings that you like the most. Sorry, but that's just stupid. Anyway: being plastic, I feel this should not have exceeded 75 OTD because I've been in the business for over 42 years and I know poorly built equipment when I see it/Touch it. Junky. 3 stars, period. NO MORE. I would recommend to a freind as a home unit ONLY! Good luck.

.Seasoned musicians will recall the Tom Scholz' Rockman device from the 80s, which boasted the classic Boston guitar sound - but only had, like, 3 sounds, and direct connection to a mixing console resulted in a harsh sound. The PocketPOD takes the Rockman concept, increases capabilities exponentially, and with modeling algorithms that remove the harshness in use with mixing console or powered speaker. This device fills a niche for having Line6 "tones" in an extremely compact and lightweight package.
Line6 users will find this device to be consistent with other Line6 effects devices and amps in terms of amp modeling, decent array of features, intuitive controls, etc. The dual-function knobs make the most desirable controls available with just three knobs. I found it extremely handly to throw in my cable case, plug into a keyboard amp and be generally up to speed within minutes at a band rehearsal. I can see huge advantages for the traveling musician, where lightweight and compactness can matter.

Additionally, I was please that I could tweak and save settings on the spot, to, for instance make various sounds the same general loudness.

However, I downloaded the companion software and, even though I work with PCs for a living, was a little intimidated by the graphical display of the software and wordy manual.
Quality of assembly and workmanship is consistent with other mainstream musical instrument electronics. There appears to be a few milliseconds of processing delay.
At the street price, I had originally assigned of a value of "7", but Line6 makes the consumer buy an AC power supply - an item that probably would cost Line6 very little if purchased in bulk. Kind of short-sighted...lowering my rating to a "6".

.Was looking for a very compact, quality sounding multi-effect processor that I could use with headphones so I could practice anywhere, without interfering with other family members. This little unit was perfect. It uses 4AAA bat's (of course you can use an external power supply (not included)), has a beltclip that holds to a guitar strap, and sounds very nice. The presets offer many variations of every flavor of music tone that I care to play, blues, classic rock, metal, twang, its got it. Just the right amount flange, delay, reverb, gain ,etc... but you can tweak the individual effect levels if you like, to make it more to your liking. In that regard, the presets can be used sort of like starting points, and saved user defined.

The preset names are very representative of what the sound is, so easy to remember the ones you like. Plus you can set user defined presets, etc...

Very powerful little unit. I can't imagine anyone not thinking it a real asset after using it. And for the price, a real value as well.

An added feature is the multitrack recording software, which I have not used yet, so cannot comment further.

.Buy it if you're a musician who travels a lot. It can always be there for you when that moment of inspiration strikes.
You can't go wrong with presets, not one sounds like another, which is a rare find for a lot of digital presets on amps. However the only 2 presets that suck are the "Fuzz" and "Fuzz Echo." Gave me an earache after listening to it.
It holds up good and the additional effects (the knobs) can really get the job done depending on how you have them dialed in. Only problem is; it's battery powered and drains them faster than you can say "Gibson." (there is a 9V power adapter outlet for it on the back, so I suggest you have one ready if you buy this)

Another problem is that it only produced feed back (with every preset) when I plugged it into my amp. But it sounds great with headphones. (It was mainly intended for travelling guitarists so I won't bash it to terribly.)
For a small battery powered effects system, it is a bit pricey. But it can do everything that the real POD is capable of. Again, just make sure you have some AAA batteries ready if you plan on taking this on a trip or anything.

.Money well spent. I also own the M13. Right now I don'd even crank up my JCM anymore. I use my pod which means I can play whenever I want withou disturbing the entier house. I have a bad tendency to dime everything, and this thing is plenty loud through decent headphones. I love this thing. The only reason i don't give it a 10 is because it's made out of plastic. Tone wise and ease of use is a 10.
All I can say is wow. I used to own a sound studio back in the 80's which was like the rockman except the sound studio sounded way better. The features are excellent especially when you log on to line 6 and you can actually tweak your settings. It actaully has more features than what the pod has on the face of it, including precense and a whole bunch of other stuff thats very useable. It is very responsive. Those that say it's sterile shuld have their head examined. What sound are you looking for???? Look no further you can get it. Country to death metal.....80's hair band...it's all there . The only draw back is the battery life. Wish is was 9v instead of 4 triple A's.
The quality is great. The only issue is that it's plastic which I am not a fan of.
Can't go wrong with this unit.

.I use this for practice, performance, and recording. Great sound quality, especially if taken time to set specific eq, amp, and tailor settings. This is a very good and convenient alternative to setting up an sm57 and amplifiers in order to record, or practice, and offers a wide sound palette with various amplifier models to suit the multitude of styles and sought characteristics that would otherwise require an amp collection. And its very small and easier to transport. For live use, this device provides the ability for consistency of sound, especially if recalling studio work sounds or sounds designed in advance, and allows for quick soundchecking and setup. a great multipurpose alternative to a DI box with line out use. Battery operable.
Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor
.For the price, the materials sould be of better quality. Guarenteed to break, if dropped on a hard surface. As with all other Line 6 products, the downloadable software does not work and the manuals and the information is not written for the average novice. A#1 there is no interface. AT ALL! So I have no idea what it was I downloaded I worked on it for hours and gave up. Just like with my Line 6 AMPLIFi 150. It didn't work, I sent it back. A freind bought the same think. warned him about it and he had to send it back: BAD SOFTWARE. Line 6 is fine for general usasge, but do not rely on thire sorftware. Good luck. I just bought one of thire combo amps, if that has more inherent problems, that too will be returned to MF and I willnever buy any Line 6 again. Nightmare software. Also, some presets are soft and perfect, but others are super load and break up badly. Enough...
Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor
.I started traveling for work and would not give up playing. After working hard to get a small guitar that really worked, I needed an amp. Bought the pod and was stunned by the sound quality. I started to bring it to band practice too. More often I play during layovers and in hotel rooms. I have even played it on planes! I am writing three years later after it finally gave up and played its last lick. Given where and how I travel, I did not expect it to last a year. I am at this page because I am buying a new one.
Line 6 Pocket POD Guitar Multi-Effects Processor
.Works great, portable. Sucks up batteries, buy the DC adapter. Dont expect it to sound great when run through a stereo.
