Product Description

The Godin LGXT AA Flamed Maple Top Electric Guitar has a combination of fast synth tracking and a tremolo system that makes for incredible sonic power and delivers it in a very user-friendly, eye-pleasing package. Exquisitely playable with surprising resonance and a vibrant natural tone, the Godin LGXT pairs an ergocut mahogany neck with a sleek and smooth ebony fingerboard and a silverleaf maple body topped by AA-grade figured maple. The LGXT guitar has dual Seymour Duncan humbuckers--a Jazz II in the neck position and a Duncan-modified Custom Custom pickup in the bridge position -- a Godin exclusive. The custom RMC X-Bridge fires the piezo transducer output and the excellent synth-tracking system.

Includes a gig bag.

I primarily bought my LGXT for the improved synth tracking of the piezo bridge, with no real thoughts of playing it outside my synth rig. Most of my other guitars are Strats, including a Roland-Ready. I also considered the Godin xtSA, thinking I might miss the 3-pickup configuration. But I was pleasantly surprised with the LGXT. Yes, the piezo bridge does improve synth tracking, but this is a great guitar even with the synth turned off. Mixing the piezo output with the neck pickup provides GIGANTIC Strat-like Stevie-Ray-Vaughn-"Lennie"-punch-you-in-the-nose tone. Powerful AND Clean. Amazing. The neck plays great, the finish is beautiful? heck, I was even impressed with how bright the Godin strings sounded! I may sell one of my Strats and buy another LGXT. Seriously, it?s that good. My only comment is that the locking tuners feel a little lightweight; I'll change mine, but Godin should consider switching to heavier Schaller or Sperzel tuners, if only for the sake of perception.

.This is one of the best guitars I have ever played. The magnetic pickups are hot the maple body makes it bright and lively. The five position switch includes coil tapped options, giving a huge range of sounds. The piezo pick up is the best I've ever heard on a solid body, and the MIDI tracking is phenomenal. There's practically no delay, and very few unwanted noises. But the best thing about it is the neck: without doubt THE BEST, most comfortable, fastest neck I have ever played. In fact the whole instrument just oozes quality. If you play live, and need to switch between acoustic and electric guitars, this is the axe for you. While the synth capability probably won't have you firing your keyboard player, it will let you mix a sax sound into your songs, or riff your jazz solo with a glockenspiel, for example (if you have a guitar synth to connect it to, of course). This really is a great guitar that will open up so many new avenues!

.I've spent the last year and a half with this guitar and just can't get enough of it. I play in an all-out variety band. We play everything: Country, Rock, Blues, Funk, R&B, Pop, and more. This guitar excels at all of it. For country I use the acoustic pickup a lot and it sounds absolutely fantastic. No need to switch guitars, just turn down the volume on the electric pickups and turn up the volume on the piezo. The acoustic tone out of my Fender 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb is amazing. But for some country you want that Tele sound. No problem, just switch over to the bridge pickup in the single coil position to get a very sweet twangy tone.
The LGXT also handles rock well with the Seymour Duncan humbuckers. I use a Blues Driver pedal for a little fuzz, a Boss OD-3 for trebly distortion, and a Plimsoul for that burning full bodied Joan Jett distortion. Those pedals all sound absolutely killer with the Deluxe Reverb.
What's surprising is how much I use the synthesizer. For funk, I play brass for most of them. For blues, I add sax and harmonica. And you'd be surprised at how good the banjo is for country. The synth is also great for covering alternate tunings without switching guitars. The only downside to the synth, is that you do have to be very careful when you play so that you don't cause misfires. This means that you have to mute the strings that you're not playing and be very precise with your picking. But with practice, the 900 voices the Roland GR-55 has are a real bonus to the band.
It's a relatively expensive setup with the LGXT guitar, the synthesizer, the pedals, and the amp. But the setup is so perfect for a rhythm guitar player like me, that I simply don't look at other equipment. No other setup does as much with such amazing tone. The lead guitarist I play with uses a Line6 Variax and a POD HD500X with a tube amp. That is also a great versatile setup, but to, me the tone is not as delightful. I'd highly recommend this LGXT/GR-55/DRRI setup to a friend.

.The flexibility of this guitar is fantastic! Coupled with my Roland VGA-7 amp, puts the use of this guitar way over the top. When all 3 jacks are used - acoustic/13 pin synth/electric, the sky is the limit. VERY IMPRESSIVE! Electric is electric, acoustic is acoustic, and at the flip of a switch you can go just about anywhere with this piece. The sound is clean, sustain is good, the action is easy. I can't tell you how much I enjoy playing this guitar. I have nothing but good things to say about this guitar and its many uses. Okay, the only thing I "might" want to complain about is the weight. I don't think you could go wrong with this choice in guitars... Enjoy!Tred

.I bought the Godin LGX-SA, which is the same thing as this guitar, but without the tremolo. Mine also has AAA quilted maple, but that does not affect sound quality. This guitar kills my old Fender Strat in playablily and sound, and I don't feel a need to play my Taylor any more either with the Godin's acoustic synth. Yes, it does sound like an actual acoustic guitar. I love being able to switch from electric to acoustic with the flick of a swicth. This guitar is just as playable as a friend's custom $3,500 US Master's strat. My only disapoinment is that very high frequency distortion on the bridge pickup does not register quite right, but that could be my amp. Overall, this guitar is godly (hey, God is in the name of the guitar). I do not even see a reason to get another electric guitar (unless it is a custom US Masters strat).
