Product Description

Bassbreaker Series guitar amplifiers continue Fender's storied lineage with a kind of "parallel evolution" that breaks away from tradition with dark gray lacquered tweed covering, refined pointer knobs and unique circuitry as well as power tubes and speakers hinting at the U.K. amps that 'borrowed' Fender circuits in the 1960s. The sound is one of pure tube greatness for today's players.

The two-channel Bassbreaker 18/30 offers the performance of two time-tested Fender classics.

Channel One offers pure, bell-like clean tones and warm crunch when driven, thanks to its Blackface Deluxe amp circuitry with extra headroom and 30-watt output. Channel Two's circuit is based on an 18-watt '61 brown Deluxe, offering plenty of power amp overdrive with easily controlled dynamics at 'real world' volume levels. An included footswitch allows easy selection between the two, and four EL84 power tubes add a distinctive midrange punch.

With pedal-friendly tube circuitry, simplicity of operation, and updated vintage aesthetics, the Bassbreaker 18/30 Combo is sure to become a modern classic.

Features Include
•Channel one is a 30-watt version of the blackface Fender Deluxe™ amp, delivering bell-like clean tones that gradually warm up with a twist of the volume control
•Channel two is an 18-watt version of the brown 1961 Deluxe amp, for lower-headroom tube tone and warm, compressed overdrive
•Channel-selection footswitch included
•Four EL84 output tubes for tighter rock distortion character
•Simple signal path for pedal-friendly operation
•Two 12” Celestion® V-Type speakers for tight response and “vocal” tone character
•Cabinet has Birch ply construction and semiclosed back for full, resonant response and lowend “thump”
•Matches perfectly with optional BB-212 extension cabinet

Bassbreaker Series

The late-'50s tweed-covered Fender Bassman is often called the grandfather of all guitar amps. What started earlier that decade as the companion amp for the Precision Bass actually became one of the most beloved guitar amps of all time, thanks to its simplicity and versatility, its wide dynamic range and warm tube overdrive, its full-frequency stage-filling power and its rugged roadworthiness.

Fender tweed amps evolved into the brown, blonde, blackface and silverface models of the 1960s. Along with the dramatic evolution of their look, the amps were redesigned each time to sound brighter and cleaner.

New Bassbreaker Series guitar amplifiers continue that fascinating lineage with yet another sound and style, a kind of "parallel evolution" in which time-honored Fender amp DNA results in a satisfyingly dirtier tone that evokes the dawn of hard rock.

The new series takes the 45-watt 1959 Bassman design and breaks it with features including the early Fender block-letter logo, black tweed covering, and refined pointer knobs plus power tubes hinting at the U.K. amps that "borrowed" Fender circuits in the 1960s. The sound is one of pure and unadulterated tube greatness.

When the Bassbreaker series was first released, I incorrectly assumed they must be bass amps. When I discovered they were, in fact, guitar amps, I thought "what a dumb name for a guitar amp." I have heard them maligned a several occasions so I just figured Fender had made a misstep. Then I heard them played on Guitar Paradiso on YouTube and started to change my mind. I then played a couple of them and discovered that the entire series is great and this particular model, the 18/30 is brilliant! Or as the British chap on Guitar Paradiso says "Ace!"

This particular model is a great reimagining of two different deluxe models--a blackface and a brownface. However, there are no 6V6 tubes here--but EL84s, which gives the amp a resonance of British sound, a bit Marshall and Vox. It's still a Fender, though, which is an amazing trick.

Channel one is the blackface sound. It is chimey and bell-like. The perfect Deluxe sound (with 30 watts instead of the usual 22). Adjust the three-way tone controls and you can go from bright to dark, folk-rock to blues to jazz. And with two 12 inch Celestion speakers, you can move a lot of air--this thing gets loud.

Channel two is the brownface sound. More midrange sound, more crunch. But it isn't a bassman, it's still a deluxe. Great for leads--crank it up and the brown tone flows!

As I noted, there are two 12 inch speakers. So, you might be thinking this amp must be heavy, right? Nope. This is not a Twin Reverb. Or even a Hot Rod Deville. Despite a solid wood frame, this thing only weighs 50 pounds-- a few pounds lighter than a Deville and a ton lighted than a Twin.

Important note--there is no built in reverb. And that's not a bummer--reverb compresses the signal and takes the edge off the tone and that won't happen here. Besides, you can use your favorite pedal to make things wet. Last note--you can drive an external cabinet, 16, 8 or 4 ohms.

I admit it--I was wrong about the Bassbreaker amps, though I still think the name is dumb.
Fender Bassbreaker 18/30W 2x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp
.I've owned several Fender amps over my 54 year span of guitar rock 'n roll and blues playing, at home, parties, and club gigs. This amp is an awesome sounding performer. This amp is reminiscent of my old Fender Bandmaster from the 60's, without all of the bulk and weight! It's lighter than my '68 Twin Reverb or my '90's Blues Deluxe, even though it is slightly bigger than the Twin.

The clarity and warmth of this amp is just wonderful. Crisp and clean. I haven't been able to crank it up yet, as I have been using it just in my home studio since its purchase, but I know it will be able to handle a club situation quite easily.

I've used the amp with pedals and without. Again, the clarity is remarkable. This is a simple, easy amp to use and you will love the tube sound! Highly recommended!

.This amp is a beast! Sounds great lots of tone. I run the tone wide open on the amp on both channels and I use my guitar tone and volume controls for different tone and I have to say the tones are endless. You have both beautiful Fender and British tones to play with. This beast is also loud and has no problem keeping up with a drummer. This is not a bedroom amp in an apartment situation, your neighbors will hate you. I use an overdrive pedal for more bite. This amp is basically a blackface and a brown face deluxe rolled into one amp. I highly recommend this amp to guitarists and especially working musicians. This is road worthy although your sound guy will be a little intimidated when he first sees the size. Weight is not bad at 50IBS.

.I have a mustang lv but it is not very pedal friendly. This amp does what an amp should do with pedals. I'm scared to turn it up, got to about 4 and it was more than loud enough. I bought this amp to use as a practice amp with our band, but I like it so well that I use it on stage. It has a great warm tone that is easy to work with. I used to use a rack and Marshall cabinet but what a pain to haul all of that around. So much easier with a combo amp.

.The true test for an amp for me is using it for live performances. I have played a lot of amps at stores and or at home only to find they do not hold up on a stage with other instruments. IMHO this amp has a very special Fender sparkle with the perfect blend of the British influence. For me this is a very different sound for a Fender. This is a basic amp without reverb and effects loop and other common features many are used to. To me that is the beauty of this amp. The controls are very straight forward. The two channels help you dial the perfect sound for almost every stage. The build quality is exceptional, this amp looks great. It even comes with a nice custom fitting cover. I am pretty impressed.

.This amp just wasn't for me. I found that the 59 bassman was an all around great amp
