Product Description

With a huge, almost cult-like following world-wide, the Jazz series of picks have become the favorite choice for guitar players to take their technical playing to the next level. Guitar virtuosos such as Eric Johnson, John Petrucci, Alexi Laiho and Joe Bonamassa rely on the Jazz III because of its quick release molded edge and sharp tip.

So I read some good things about the yellow Ultex Jazz IIIs and have had great experience with Dunlop Big Stubby and Primetomes picks (the small, pointed 5mm ones) and thought "why not?"

I'll tell you why not: they make a scratchy sound against round-wound strings that wouldn't go away even with grinding and polishing a remedial bevel onto these babies. The Petrucci version will probably be an entirely different story, but these were just brutal.

Pity, too, because they felt so good in hand. Before hitting the first string, the pick seemed to ask "Are you ready to rock?" and after it, its answer was "well guess again!" Tried 'fixing' them, but my time would've been better spent punching sandpaper and soaking my hands in Tabasco sauce.

Hoping the thinner Ultex Jazz pics and Petrucci Ultex Jazz pics are another story. In the meantime, I'll just cry to my Stubbies and Primetones and they'll make beautiful tones to sooth me.

.If you drop this you will end up looking like someone that lost a contact because it seems to blend in with every non white color out there lol...
The text on these picks is lifted just enough to provide a lil grip and they seem to be holding up better than the standard ultex sharps I have. What more can you ask for in a pick?

.For a guitar player with relatively small hands, the Jazz III format works very well for me. This pick doesn't slip in my fingers, is easy to hold, and allows for good flexibility n tone and pick dynamics. It is my current favorite.

.My new favorite picks!
Dunlop Ultex Jazz III Guitar Pick 6-Pack 2.0 mm
.I've tried just about every Jazz III variation out there and I happen to love the regular, translucent-yellow Jazz III Ultex. This 2.0 version has nothing to do with the regular one - the material feels harder and the surface finish is rough, which makes the attack and tone scratchy and overly bright.

This is probably the only pick in the world that I actively hate.

.I greatly enjoy the yellow Ultex Jazz III picks (they're actually my current go-to), so I figured I'd love the slightly thicker version. I was wrong. While the regular Ultex Jazz III doesn't have any major effect on your tone, these picks produce a very distinct clicking noise against the strings. They sound significantly thinner than the smaller version of the 'same' pick. It might be good for someone, but it's way too bright for me.

.Work well on Mandolin.
Dunlop Ultex Jazz III Guitar Pick 6-Pack 2.0 mm
.I have been using V-Picks and Gravity picks for sometime. However I have gotten tired of paying the high prices for the mentioned brands. I have been searching for for something that works acceptably. These picks work for me. They are not equal to the above mentioned picks but, I can drop these, lose them without too much worry. Two gigs and I am already used to them. My pick of choice now (I use two different widths of these)
Dunlop Ultex Jazz III Guitar Pick 6-Pack 2.0 mm
.I use it on acoustic for a slightly brighter tone, and use the grip jazz iii version for more mellow tone and for electric (only due to better grip).
Great pick, good feel and tone. For acoustic work provides a nice brighter picking tone.
Looks and feels durable

.
This pick delivers the best tone possible from a mandolin. The raised lettering on the pick prvides the surest grip I've experienced, and I've used the carbon fiber Maxi-grip picks! The slight bevel on the tip ensures lightning fast releas while delivering maximum tone, the pick darts from one note to the next with driving clarity and control. If you haven't tried these picks yet, do yourself a favor, buy a pack today!
