Lots of versatility with this effect. Dial in the kind of edge you want, low or high distinction and guitar or keyboard selection. If you can get the real thing get it but if you can't lug a leslie around and you want the effect this is it. Great visual that lets you see the rotation speed and great adjustable braking that makes that rise and fall excitement we all love. I have been a professional studio musician for 40 years and I would highly recommend this unit. I only gave it 4 stars because it is in fact not a leslie.

.I bought one of these used and liked it SO MUCH, I immediately bought another one to replace the Tube Rotosphere in my keyboard rig. The secret is getting the speed/settings right.I took my portable organ and the Boss RT-20 pedal to the church where I play a REAL Hammond C3 and Leslie 145 and matched the speeds and point of natural distortion. I use a Roland Blues Driver in front of this pedal to get those "over the top" distorted rock organ sounds. This thing is the BOMB!

. You can't get any closer to the Leslie sound without actually having a Leslie. The only thing I wish it did differently is to switch instantly from low to high rotation, instead of speed up and slow down. Then again, maybe an expression pedal might do the trick.
Hi and Lo rotors
No problems whatsoever, love the tone.
I could never afford, or transport, a Leslie. This pedal does what I want it to, at a much cheaper price and smaller size and weight!

.owned rt-20 for 6 months, using it in stereo for guitar application. I'va added EQ to the front of the RT-20 to boost 600hz and 1200hz. Lets you voice chords across the horn / rotor crossover. If you are lookin for SRV Coldshot this is likely not the pedal for you. If you know what a leslie can do, man this is the s**t. Working the footswitch to take advantage of the interial effect can liven up your playing big time. This nuance is the strengeth of a leslie IMO, The effect has a bit of a gritty edge to it. The magic is accomplished by voicing your notes chords and appropriately changing timing speed changes. The youtube demos do not do this pedal justice. You need to be playing and tapping the tremolo chorale speeds with your feet not your fingers.

.I've been using the RT-20 for about 5 years now and not only does it really sound like a Leslie, it never quits! I've played gigs under various conditions including very HOT outdoor gigs with no problems. I have had ZERO problems with it and it took me 1 minute to set it to get exactly the sound I want (unlike other modeling devices that require a PHD to configure). Obviously it weighs a LOT less than a real Leslie and smaller too.

.Always wanted those sounds but didn't want to buy 5 or 6 separate pedals. This thing is AWESOME. Wouldn't trade it for anything, except an actual Lezlie cab.
Boss RT-20 Rotary Ensemble Sound Processor
.Yoooo

Works just like you would think. I found that i leave mine on the slow setting 90% of the time. It seems to thicken the tone and adds almost a phaser effect. I got it thinking i would use the fast feature more but the slow speed is just a good ole baseline sound to build from. Adding other pedals with it gets overwhelming fast but i found it takes the place of things like delay and overdrive if you tweak it right. The only true downside is that the gain is OOC, anything past level 3 sounds like a blown sub in a VW bug, just awful. However the 0-3 sweep can be useful. Not a perfect repo of a RT but close enough, especcaly in a band setting it gets the point across just fine. (works in stereo also).

Overall, it has a great sound, easy to use, get one.
Boss RT-20 Rotary Ensemble Sound Processor
.I have always loved the sound of a Leslie. Whether we are talking about a Hammond B-3 or or a Fender Strat, an instrument just sounds more soulful and etherial when played through a rotating speaker system. For years, I tried to approximate this sound by using different combinations of flanger, chorus, phaser and tremolo effects. And, while I would often be able to dial in some cool tones, I always ended up with something that, at best, sounded "Leslie-esque" but clearly not like the real deal. The RT-20 gets me as close to the "real deal" as I will probably ever need.

When you think about how hard it is accurately simulate a complex electromechanical device like a Leslie and shrink it down to the weight and size of an effects pedal, it is pretty amazing how close this pedal sounds to the real thing. I know purists will argue that the RT-20 can't capture some of the more subtle sonic qualities of a real Leslie-I don't think ANY simulator can because it is physically impossible. That said, I know which device I'd rather lug to practice sessions and gigs!

I haven't tried the other rotary sims out there, including the Strymon Lex or the H&K Rotosphere. Could they be even better than the RT-20? Maybe. Depending on who you ask, the RT-20 is either superior, equal or inferior to those and other units. All I know is that the RT-20 gives me the sound and features I've always wanted and I am totally satisfied with the Leslie settings on this pedal.

The Uni-Vibe setting has gotten mixed reviews, with some people dismissing it as "fake" sounding and others describing it as authentic and useful. I think that Boss did a really good job of modeling a Uni-Vibe. You can dial in some pretty convincing tones by adjusting the rate and intensity controls. If you are really particular about Uni-Vibe tone, I would go for a unit that uses actual bulbs, photocells and staggered phasing stages like the original. Also, with both the Leslie and Uni-V settings, I have found that both sound MUCH better when using an overdrive or distortion pedal AFTER the RT-20. The built in overdrive is only useful at lower settings and I prefer to use a seperate OD anyway.

I have been playing guitar for over 25 years and I have to say that the RT-20 is at the top of my list of favorite effects pedals. If you dig the Leslie sound, you owe it to yourself to check it out.
Boss RT-20 Rotary Ensemble Sound Processor
.I had a Leslie years ago that was modified for guitar. I always loved the effect. I have tried many units to achieve that sound again but it just wasn't the same. This pedal is as close as I have come and I couldn't be more pleased. Being able to adjust the balance of the horn and bass baffle is a really nice touch. The UniVibe effect is a real bonus. This pedal is dangerously close to the real thing and sure beats hauling the real thing around (not to mention all the mics you need). Try one.
Boss RT-20 Rotary Ensemble Sound Processor
.Never written a review in my life, but I am so impressed with the Boss RT20 I just had to. Been researching leslie sims for awhile now to use with organ. DLS,H&K,NEO, you name it. Neo ventilator very good but no better then the RT20. And what a wad of cash to save. It was a no brainer for me. Oh yeah it's got pretty lights. The ramp speed is very authentic. Great sampling of bass speaker and horn.
