This is a very nice switch. It is well constructed and durable. I've used this switch for about a year. It is irritating to have to take off the back cover and connect/disconnect the battery after each use. Through practice, it only takes me about 10 seconds, however, I worry about the battery connector becoming worn out. Contrary to other reviews, the battery IS required for the switch to function. Other than the battery issue, this is a top quality switch.

.I bought the BOSS FS-6 Dual Foot Switch to use it with my BOSS GT-10 Guitar Effects Processor. This is a great compact unit that provides two switches that can be independently set to Latch or Momentary function with selectable Polarity. For Latch function, Polarity will only change when the LED will lit (either when in CLOSE position, or when in OPEN position). But for Momentary function, Polarity allows the switch to be set to either Normally OPEN or to Normally CLOSE, great versatility! The FS-6 has been extensively criticized for not having an ON/OFF switch. This is not important at all, in fact it is better that it doesn't has an ON/OFF switch and I'm sure it was deliberately designed not to have one, as you will see. The FS-6 will stay OFF (even with the included 9 Volt battery in place) until a plug is connected to "A", "B", or "A & B" connectors. You don't need to remove the battery when nothing is connected to it. The "POWER" LED will not lit indicating that the unit is OFF so the battery will not drain. This thing basically turns ON automatically, preventing any damage that may be caused to your equipment if it had and ON/OFF switch and you accidentally forgot to turn it ON. Why would you want to have an ON/OFF switch when the FS-6 was so well engineered? This safety feature may also explain why there is not an AC power option available. This is a great piece of equipment. And it enhances the functions and flexibility of my GT-10.

.If you have a BOSS GT 6/8/10 then first get an extra expression pedal. If you still want more options then get these. Am very satisfied with these footswitches. What they don't tell you in the manual is that you need stereo cables to use both switches simultaneously. So you'll have to get one if you're buying this.
Boss FS-6 Footswitch
.Solidly built. Requires 9v battery for any use, no matter what - it's not just for the LED lights. Unplug cable when not in use.

It also requires a TRS cable to be used with the various Roland stuff that requires the FS_6. You probably don't have one laying around as an average guitarist or musician with an extended length that will make this useful (6' to 10'). If you require something that works without a battery, use a pair of FS-5. That said, life appears to be in excess of 100 hours with a good 9V.

It is also exceedingly expensive for what it is - two boring momentary switches, even well-made ones.

.This footswitch is well made, easy to use, and very ergonomic. Takes up a bit more room than the DIY style footswitches. Overall I'm really happy with it except - it requires a battery to function and it does not have a jack for an ac adapter. I bought it hoping that the battery is only needed to light the LEDs (which I could care less about) but nope, without a battery the unit does not function at all. IMO this is a bad design, as there are lots of footswitches out there that do not require a battery. Oh well. I can live with it, and I hope that it has a long battery life (I imagine it will, because I don't think the battery is doing much?).

Note to a previous poster: You don't have to remove the battery to turn off the power. But you do need to disconnect your 1/4" cable, otherwise the unit will stay on.
Boss FS-6 Footswitch
.This is one great footswitch. I use it with my Boss GT-8. This switch has switchable polarity and setting between latching and non-latching for each switch/button/actuator. So I thought, what else can I use it for. I have a Vox AD30vt amp. The original vox dual footswitch although cheaper is very noisy. Latching type and makes a loud CLUCK-TUCK noise each time it is pressed. So I set the Boss FS-6 to Latching type. Don't know what polarity was set but i plugged it into the Vox ad30vt amp and Super ! I can now control my amp without the vox noisy switch that i already returned. Super quite function on the FS-6. It is electronic. It uses a 9 Volt battery. (included with a new switch). I can switch channels and turn FX section on/off. The next thing I did, I plugged it into the two footswitch connectors on my M-audio Blackbox. Works super with that too in non latching mode. Polarity does affect functions. so set it correctly. Being assignable for various parameters, the FS-6 is a huge help for both the GT-8 and the Blackbox. Highly recommended for anyone looking to buy extra sinle or dual switches for amps or effects. This switch should work with lots of other amps, efx etc too. Next I will test it as a sustain pedal with my Oxygen midi controller. Has stereo connector and two mono connectors. Can use either.
Boss FS-6 Footswitch
.I got tired of bending over to scroll to different presets on my RC-3 Loop Pedal. Now I can bank up or down without hitting my Cole Clark headstock on everything close to me. Also, a big plus it that I don't have to tap the RC-3 twice to stop the loop, just tap "B" button once and it stops immediately! I like that! Also, the 9 volt lasts forever and I'm told you don't even need a battery for it to work, but you won't have an LED function.
Boss FS-6 Footswitch
.Mandatory to provide short cut foot controls for the Boss RC-3 loop pedal.
Boss FS-6 Footswitch
.I have a Roland 20x and this is the only footswitch that will use all the features of the amp in one unit. It is excellent, however like another customer review, it only powers on a 9v battery. You have to pull the plug on the footswitch or you will buying lots of batteries. Hope Boss considers making a change to this power feature. Highly recommend if you have a Roland X amp.
Boss FS-6 Footswitch
.I use this thing with a Boss ME-50. It works just as advertised, and the switching options on the back give me the ability to use it for all kinds of other things. I've had it for like a year at least, if not two. The only problem I've had with it is that I accidentally broke the plastic battery cover (it would be nice if someone could send me one lol), but that's nothing that duct tape can't fix. I'd buy another if mine broke, but with how Boss makes their pedals, I doubt it will break.
